Our Inaugural Auction

Inspired by the word "Perennial" , the inaugural edition of ArtXAuction brings together a curated collection of works traversing eras and cultures, from archaeological objects to Pre-Raphaelite and modern art. The collection includes a marble relief from the Roman Empire, a landscape painted in his later years by Auguste Renoir, an impressionist painter widely known for his portraits, and a love letter with drawings that Lucian Freud - each of which carries its own unique story. We hope that viewers will draw connections between the works reflecting on their universal themes. 記念すべき第一回目のオークションでは“Perennial” という言葉を掲げ、考古物からラファエル前派、モダンアートまで、時代や文化を超えて集められた作品をキュレーションしております。人物画で広く知られている印象派画家オーギュスト・ルノアールが晩年に描いた風景画やルシアン・フロイドが愛する人へ認めたドローイングが描かれた切実な手紙、ローマ帝国時代に作られた大理石のレリーフなど、背景にそれぞれの物語を持った作品が時代を超えて集められています。表現方法や作られた時代など様々なカテゴリーによって分けられ理解されることが多い作品ですが、今回集められたユニークな作品とその物語を通して、点と点が線になるように、それぞれの作品の見方、つながりを描いていただければと思います。
