Moments of BeautyThis edition of Curator’s Pick is a collaboration with The Obsession Gallery, founded in 1992 as an official representative of Robert Heindel, and known for introducing contemporary Impressionist painters from Japan and around the world. From among their represented artists, we are pleased to present works by Robert Heindel — celebrated worldwide for his paintings of ballet dancers and often called “the modern Degas.”
Heindel’s work embodies the gallery’s founding vision: paintings that invite you to look, to feel, and to nurture the imagination. Diana, Princess of Wales, herself a collector of his work, once said that Heindel succeeded in capturing the spirituality of the human being.
The theme for this edition is “Moments of Beauty.”
Through Heindel’s luminous paintings of dancers — rendered with a sense of reverence for what he regarded as the highest realm of aesthetic experience that human beings can attain — we invite you to let your imagination reach toward something deeper: our feelings for one another, the spirituality of the human spirit, and the dignity of life itself.
